🚀 Start Building Your Career in Concept Art 🎮
Breaking into the game industry can be difficult when every opportunity seems to ask for experience you have not yet had the chance to gain.
This internship is designed to give 2 developing artists the rare opportunity to learn directly from an industry veteran Concept Artist with over a 10 years of experience shaping worlds, characters and visual ideas while gaining insight into how professional game art is created, developed and shipped.
Throughout August, you will receive practical guidance, contribute to real game development projects, learn how professional feedback works and gain a better understanding of how ideas move from an early brief towards artwork that can support game production.
This is not about already being a finished professional. We are looking for artists with strong potential, curiosity, and a genuine willingness to learn.
What You Will Work On
You will complete a structured concept art brief with guidance and feedback from your mentor.
Depending on the task, this could involve exploring characters, environments, props, mood, shape language or visual storytelling.
The focus will not only be on the final image. We also want to help you understand how professional Concept Artists approach research, references, thumbnails, exploration and iteration.
You will be encouraged to show your ideas, explain your decisions, try different directions and develop your work based on feedback.
What You Will Learn
During the internship, you will:
- Learn how professional Concept Artists approach briefs, research, references, and visual problem solving.
- Develop ideas through thumbnails, sketches, exploration, and iteration.
- Receive direct feedback on your artwork and learn how to respond to creative direction.
- Understand how concept art supports other areas of game development, including 3D art, design, animation and production.
- See how artistic ideas are discussed, reviewed, and developed inside a professional game studio.
- Improve how you present your thinking, not only the final image.
- Gain practical work that may support the continued development of your portfolio.
- Finish the internship with a clearer understanding of your strengths and the areas you should develop next.
What We Offer
Mentorship from an experienced Concept Artist with more than 10 years of industry experience, including contributions to major titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Mafia: The Old Country and many more.
- Regular feedback sessions focused on your ideas, process, decision making and artistic development.
- A practical look at how concept art supports real game development, beyond creating polished portfolio images.
- The chance to ask questions about portfolios, applications, studio expectations and building a career as a Concept Artist.
- A flexible part time schedule that can be arranged around studies, work or other commitments.
- A professional and supportive environment where you are encouraged to explore ideas, make mistakes and improve.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for 2 developing artists who:
- Are currently studying, recently graduated, self taught, or at the beginning of their professional career.
- Have a portfolio showing their current artwork and creative interests.
- Are interested in concept art for games, including characters, environments, props or visual development.
- Are comfortable receiving direct feedback and developing their work through several versions.
- Can explain some of the thinking behind their artwork.
- Can attend sessions at our Prague studio during August.
- Can communicate comfortably in English.
- You don’t need previous professional experience in the games industry. We care more about your potential, artistic fundamentals, ideas and willingness to learn.
How to Apply
Stage 1: Application and Portfolio
Complete our application form and include a link to your portfolio.
Stage 2: Art Assignment
Selected applicants will receive a concept art exercise to complete within a set timeframe.
We will provide a clear brief and explain what we are looking for. The assignment will be designed to assess your ideas, creative process and ability to develop a concept, not only the final level of polish.
Stage 3: Interview
Finalists will meet with us to discuss their portfolio, assignment, creative process and what they hope to gain from the internship.
Stage 4: Final Selection
We will select 2 participants to join the internship during August 2026.
What to Include in Your Portfolio
Your portfolio does not need to be large or contain professional client work.
Please send us a selection of work that best represents your current skills and interests. This could include:
- Characters, creatures, environments, props, or vehicles.
- Sketches, thumbnails, studies and unfinished explorations.
- Personal projects, university work, or independent work.
- Examples showing how an idea developed from early research or sketches into a final direction.
- We would rather see a smaller selection of your strongest and most relevant work than everything you have ever created.
